We never miss the compelling beauty and fashion updates at the ITV.com This Morning Blog. We were delighted to see our iconic loofah soap get a cool 9/10 in the beauty reviews last week……….
This week at This Morning we tried CocoonU’s luxury organic hair and body bar and loofah bar.
Organic Loofah Bar, £13.00
I suffer from Keratosis pilaris which is a very common genetic skin condition that is the appearance of rough bumps on the skin. Mine appears on the outer side of my upper arms.
Loofahs are well known for helping to remove dead skin cells, so when combining that with a soap bar I knew this was going to be an easy way of exfoliating and washing with organic ingredients that would not irritate my skin.
I have been using the bar for 2 weeks now and my arms have reduced dramatically in redness and feel a lot smoother. The smell of the lime, ginger and honey round off the whole treatment. I would recommend this bar to anyone who would like to make their skin feel dramatically softer. The loofah does give a slight scratching sensation, but if your attitude is ‘a little pain is beauty’, you will feel and see the results.

There has been a hive of activity around the Organic shelves in the CocoonU shop over last few weeks, with a few notable best sellers - more on these over the coming weeks. Today we are focusing on the divine 100% organic sandalwood soaps which are beloved by men and women (much like our loofah soaps!). We have received an email from one satisfied customer posted below. Fellas take note; it seems our products are a love magnet as well as shower time heaven for you and your bathroom!
Seriously though, Sandalwood has been used for centuries in Asian cultures as a spiritual incense and the scent is reputed to quell the overactive mind and calm the spirit. Vanessa attended a busy summer fair this weekend with a great display from our CocoonU Organic range. Our most popular range once again … body bars and sandalwood soap, particularly with the fellas! We recently wrote about the popularity of body bars with children and it seems they remain popular with adults too. Nettle and lime and aloe vera are current favourites and we think nettle and lime may become a cult classic, so more of that later…

Harrogate Grammar School will be holding a “Rags to Riches” enterprise day on Tuesday 20th July 2.00-3.30. It is an absolutely wonderful competition in which 260 students work in teams of 30 to organise and manage a sustainable fashion company and present a fantastic catwalk show as a finale.
Vanessa is delighted to join a panel of business experts who will be acting as judges at the event on Tuesday 20th July 2.00 to 3.30 pm

I am always in pursuit of fantastic hair products to deal with my proliferation of badly behaved tresses. Too often shampoos are too harsh, conditioners too runny and the smell pleasant, but not mind blowing. I have been chased out of many a shop for sniffing the contents of its’ hair product shelves and turning the bottles upside down to see if the consistency is thick enough… However, those days are over..
Already an ardent fan of the shampoo bars, so therefore familiar with the heavenly scents of the range, I am now in happy possession of several shampoos and conditioners and a thick and shining head of hair. Over two weeks of use hair life has returned, my scalp is happy and calm and outgoings reduced as due to fabulous condition, can skip my next haircut for a quick fringe trim. Bliss.
Products tried so far are the 100% Organic Nettle and Lime , Chamomile Rose and Honey and Rosemary and Lavender shampoo and conditioner, used together or mixed and matched.
First the shampoos are of a rich, moisturising consistency that makes hair squeak with cleanliness (ditto shampoo bars). The smell of all the range is out of this world, but my current favourite is Nettle and Lime. Citrus is renowned as an uplifting oil, guaranteed to bring a positive glow to an early morning and this product is truly heavenly, the smell lingering on your hair all day. Chamomile and Rose is fantastically soothing on scalp and dry ends and the Rosemary and Lavender brings herbaceous invigoration to a fuzzy morning head. The matching conditioners offer extra layering of the extraordinary fragrances and a rich texture that combs through easily, but can be used sparingly with great effect.

Some interesting feedback is filtering into our shop about our Organics range from a slightly unexpected source – children! Most of this currently is related to our Hair and Body bars. These and our loofah soaps formed the beginnings of the range last year and have always been popular, but with our full 100% organic collection now available and being purchased by Mum’s and Dad’s, we are finding the smaller family members are taking delight in bath and shower time accompanied by the multi-tasking, fabulously scented bars, which can be used all over.
As adults most of us relish bath time as a chance to unwind (I will avoid the temptation to chatter about our fabulous bath and shower gels – for the moment!), taking as long as possible and risking the prune like appearance of over-soaking in order to escape from every day stresses. Not so the kids, who mostly prefer in and out as soon as possible with the minimum of effort! However, bath time as we know it in some parts of Yorkshire is changing as the kids are grabbing the Hair and Body bar for a quick, effective, amazing smelling and natural all over cleanse and shampoo. Boys especially apparently are loving the tangy Nettle and Lime and herby Rosemary and Lavender bars. The only question arising from the process is the ‘which bit to clean first’ dilemma, but we will leave it to you to answer that one!
We love the idea of multi-functional products at CocoonU and are delighted the word is spreading amongst the boys and girls..
